You better figure out social media, the quicker the better! Back in 2006, when Facebook just became popular it was just a social media platform where people could get to know each other, stay in touch with their friends from uni, and share their status. Today, Facebook is by far the best and cheapest marketing tool out there. With 1.71bn Facebook users worldwide it has become another ‘world’ within our world.
An average user spends an average of 50 minutes on Facebook every day! And that’s just one person. Let’s say you are running a Facebook campaign and you find that there are 5,000,000 people on Facebook who are interested in your product.
Now, let’s go wild and say that half of that audience have forgotten they ever created a Facebook account. That still leaves you with 2,500,000 people who spend on average 50 minutes per day on Facebook! Crazy right?
Can you imagine how much exposure you can get within a day? An hour? A minute? Because think about it this way, John might spend most of his time on Facebook during his lunch time, while Jessica might be scrolling down her Facebook on a train on her way home after work. Imagine how many Johns and Jessicas there are in your audience of 2.5m.
Some of you might say “but it’s only kids who are on Facebook”. Guess what?… You’re wrong! When Facebook came out to the public 10 years ago, our parents said “I will NEVER have a Facebook account!”. Today, my mom has 147 friends on her Facebook account, snaps selfies with her grandson or friends, and gets upset when she only gets 3 likes on her picture.
This might be a bit obvious to some of you, but – the key to your success is your audience! You need to be where your audience is!
