So what are your plans for Christmas? Yes, some might say that “you’re way too early” and “there’s still time to think about it”. But NO! Sorry to ruin your chilled-out atmosphere and your mood, but you have to have a ‘flexible’ strategy for Christmas early in the year. Emphasis being on flexible.
Flexibility helps you adapt quicker to the rapidly developing technological environment where the next Facebook or Instagram can be developed any day. It’s not the 70’s-80’s or even early 90’s anymore! Things move fast around here in 2016+ and thoughts like “we’ll cross the bridge when we get there” just don’t apply anymore.
Want a piece of advice? You have to be where your customers’ attention is! If at the beginning of the year you know where your customer attention will be this Christmas, then you can consider yourself a winner. This is where brands who choose traditional advertising, such as TV, radio and newspaper lose money simply because they fail to pay their attention to things like Spotify, YouTube, Facebook & Instagram. Today, an average person spends 50 minutes on Facebook daily. This may not sound like much until you take away 8:30 hours of average sleep in 24 hours, that’s a lot!
Let’s be honest, whenever you’re watching TV and your favourite programme is interrupted by an advertisement, what do you do??? Let us guess… you take a bathroom break, you go make coffee or grab something from the kitchen, OR, you grab your phone and you go on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or whatever else you like.
Since we agreed on that, please promise us that whether you’re selling socks, mince pies, computers or blenders this Christmas, you will figure out where your audience is and you will hit those channels hard. If you do that, we can guarantee you will see results which you haven’t seen yet!
